How do I know what version of the product I'm running?

The CIGINFO module contains the tape or CD label and the service pack level. Enter the following at the command line in TSO: TSO CALL ‘flhq1.flhq2.LOADLIB(CIGINFO)’ where the loadlib dsn is the CIG product loadlib. There will be a display sent to the screen with version and service pack information. Starting at service pack Z231127U there is also a CLIST that can be modified and executed for the same information.

What service pack level is required to support Endevor 7.0.1?

Release tape G0212A with product CD CD260301.00 are required to support Endevor 7.0.1.
What service pack level is required to support Endevor 4.0.1?

Release tape G0212A with service pack level Z240501Z or product CD CD240501.00 are required to support Endevor 4.0.1.
What service pack is required to support Z/OS 1.7?

Release tape G0212A with service pack Z240501Z is required to support Z/OS 1.7.
What service pack is required to support 64 bit processing?

Release tape G0212A with service pack Z231127U is required to support 64 bit processing.
What is the current release tape?

As of May. 11th, 2004, CIG no longer ships product on tape cartridge. The products now ship on CD ROM. The most current CD available is CD260301.00.
Do I need to reinstall from the CD260301.00 to be current?

No. If you have at least the G0212A base tape installed, then your systems can be upgraded to the Z260301Z service pack level via FTP download.

How do I get the latest release of the product cd?

Why can I see elements in CA-Endevor but not in FastLIST?

Check CIGINI for filter statements.

Check CA-Endevor search filters.

Run Incremental Load JCL.

Verify that all methods (Steplib, Linklist, logon procs, etc.) to run CA-Endevor execute the collector exits.

Verify that all users are running with the same steplib or joblib step.

Will converting to PDSE's affect FastLIST?

No, there are no known issues.

How can I display multiple levels of an element?

On the CA-Endevor Filters Panel mark lvls? Y and mark CCID TYPE A.

Are EE load records optional?

Yes, with ramifications. If the EE records are not implements, the site will not have ISPF inventory selections, and CCID/COMMENT will not be enforced.

How often should I re-org my file(s)?

It is suggested that the Back up and Re-org JCL members be run weekly as a scheduled job.

Why do I only see sample CIG data in the database?

A "live" database has not been loaded, or the CIGINI file still points to the sample database. Verify that your site has created a database and populated it with live data.

What user id does the User ID filter considers?

The User Id filter is based on signout ID.

Do I have to run the Incremental Loader if I have the Collector turned on?

No.

How can I disable the collector without removing it from the CA-Endevor exit table?

The collector can be disabled by adding the following DD statement: //CIGCOFF DD DUMMY

Duplicate Element FAQ: All CA-Endevor actions are failing after implementing duplicate element rules.

Run CIGFDUPL JCL to check syntax. Review rules. Keep them simple.

Greenhouse
CIGINI Enforcement rules - has both Dataset and Dsname.

These are aliases of each other, so you must use one or the other, not both.

Browse element of a segment gets 'no data.'

A) This means that some CA-Endevor actions were performed outside of Package Utilities and/or Greenhouse; or

B) The element no longer exists at that location. To remove this reference, use the Disable function or leave as an audit reference for historical purposes.

How can I get a VIOLATIONS REPORT?

Through JCL member CIGGHJ01 with correct syntax, or through the ISPF label audit function.

What are the typical uses for Greenhouse?

Release Management, Change Management, Release Auditing and Tracking.

When are enforcement rules enforced?

The rules are enforced when the CIGINI is recompiled with the rules dataset and your session is restarted.

Can I add to/delete from a segment?

Yes, using the ASSIGN/DISABLE utility.

What is the "Greenhouse Knowledge Base"?

The Greenhouse Knowledge base is the VSAM file created to house the segment data.

How do I set up the email notification feature?

Refer to the CIG Integrated Install Manual under "Configure the Greenhouse Email Interface."

Package Utilities
I deleted a package in CA-Endevor. Then when I try to delete the package from Package Utilities I get RC=12. Why?

The package has been deleted from CA-Endevor because CIGSKL02 writes EMVS SCL. The job gets a RC=12 even though the delete from Package Utilities is successful.

The Package Remake step in CA-Endevor fails with RC=01.

The step fails because the region size is missing from step 2. Add region size to
CIGSKL02 step 2.

How do I set up the Remake option?

Verify that the Internal Reader has been allocated. Refer to the Package Utilities Reference Guide under "Internal Reader Requirement." Review CIGINI options for Auto Remake Y/N.

Can I just remake emergency packages?

The CIGINI flags are AUTOMATIC REMAKE and DO NOT REMAKE EMERGENCY PACKAGES. For remake to work you need AUTOMATIC REMAKE. The EMER switch only determines if EMER PKGs will be remade. You cannot just have EMER PKGs be remade.

Can I create packages in Package Utilities?

No.

Why do I only see sample CIG package data in the database?

Package actions have not been run against the database, or, the CIGINI file points to the sample database. Verify that your site has created a database and populated it with live data.

How often should I re-org my files(s)?

It is suggested that the Back up and Re-org JCL members be run weekly as a scheduled job.

Where can I find the space requirements for installing CIG mainframe products?

In the CIG Integrated Install Manual under "Review Software and Hardware Considerations."

Does this include the DASD requirements?

No. DASD requirement worksheets are provided when installing the CIG product databases.

Do I have to define the CIG products to MIM or GRS?

Yes. If you are working in a multi-LPAR or multi-CPU environment, especially SYSPLEX.

Can I use the sample CIGINI as my permanent CIGINI?

Yes, if you update it with the production VSAM files and all CA-Endevor information.

Do I need to make any modifications to CA-Endevor?

Yes, there are several modifications discussed in the CIG Integrated Install Manual. For example the C1UEXITS table must be updated with the CIG exits, the CIGINI and CIGFEXEC modules must be placed in the CA-Endevor authorized library, and the C1SB3000 skeleton must be modified.

Is there an install checklist to make sure I don't miss anything?

Yes--in the CIG Integrated Install Manual.

Do FastLIST, Package Utilities, or Greenhouse require authorized libraries?

CIG products do not, but CA-Endevor does. Since CIG Products and CA-Endevor run in tandem during exit processing, some CIG modules must reside in authorized libraries.

Do I need SAS to run this product?

No. Adhoc is a standalone product that works with CA-Endevor data.

Can I store my report options for later use?

Yes. By editing your JCL you can save the report options to a library to be submitted again later. NOTE: JCL parms must be altered not to delete at the end of the job.

May I create/submit multiple reports?

Yes. You can submit multiple reports of DIFFERENT types at the same time.

Can I delete a field from a report prior to submitting the job?

No. You must cancel the job and reset the report options.
